A PUBG nickname is the display name other players see above your character in PUBG Mobile — in the lobby, on the kill feed and on your profile. What is a PUBG nickname, and how is it different from a player ID?

Your nickname is the name you choose and can change; your player ID is the number the game assigns and never changes. Friends can search for you by either, but only the nickname appears in matches. That is why people spend time decorating it — it is the one part of the account everyone sees.

PUBG Mobile is published internationally by Proxima Beta, part of Tencent Games. Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), published by KRAFTON, Inc. and launched on 2 July 2021, is a separate version of the game for players in India with its own servers and its own enforcement. A styled name works the same way as text in both, but the two games apply their own rules to it, so this site treats them as two products rather than one.

How do I create a stylish PUBG nickname?

Type a plain name in the box at the top of this page and the generator rewrites it in every style at once. Nothing to install and no account needed.

1. Type the base name. Use ordinary letters — the styles replace them for you. The counter under the box stops at 24 characters; that is this tool’s own limit, not a number published by either game’s publisher.
2. Pick a tab. Fonts swaps each letter for a look-alike from Unicode’s mathematical alphabets (𝐁𝐨𝐥𝐝, 𝓢𝓬𝓻𝓲𝓹𝓽, 𝔊𝔬𝔱𝔥𝔦𝔠). Stylish wraps the name in a frame such as ꧁ ꧂ or ༺ ༻. Mixed and Effects combine the two or add marks above and below the letters.
3. Tap Copy on the result you like, then try a symbol from the panels above to add a tag of your own.

If you have seen a decorated name somewhere and want to know what it is made of, the letters may not be what they seem. Some alphabets contain characters that are pixel-identical to Latin letters; we measured which ones in our test of 39 letters that can copy a PUBG name.

PUBG nickname style: which letter style to use for a name you already have

A PUBG nickname style (or PUBG name style) keeps your name and swaps its letters for look-alike characters, so “Shadow” becomes 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰, Sʜᴀᴅᴏᴡ or σηαδοω. Styles are not all equal: they differ in how many characters of space they take and in whether other apps quietly turn them back into plain letters. We ran the name “Shadow” through the generator on this page and measured each result.

How do I turn my name into a stylish PUBG nickname?

Type the name in the generator at the top, open the Fonts tab for letter styles or Stylish for framed versions, and copy the one you like. If you want the style to stay visible everywhere, prefer one from the last group in the table below; if you want a short name, prefer one that costs one unit per letter.

Which letter styles hold up, and what does each one cost?

The table shows the generator’s output for “Shadow”, its length in UTF-16 units (what many name fields count), and what the text becomes after NFKC normalisation — the Unicode step many apps and search boxes apply.

Why does my stylish name turn back into plain letters somewhere else?

Because the mathematical and fullwidth alphabets have compatibility decompositions: NFKC maps 𝐒 back to S by design. An app that normalises text before storing or searching it will show, match or save the plain name. Look-alike letters from Greek, Cyrillic or Thai are separate letters with no such mapping, so they survive — which is also why they can be used to imitate someone else’s name, as the look-alike letter test linked earlier on this page shows.

How do I add symbols around my PUBG nickname?

Put a frame on both sides and, if you like, one tag at the end: frame + styled name + tag + frame, as in ꧁𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰✦꧂. Copy a frame or tag from the symbols panel or the player-made nicknames above and paste it before and after the styled name. Each symbol adds one unit, or two if it comes from above U+FFFF, so check the total before you save.

How do I copy a nickname and paste it into PUBG Mobile?

Copy the name here, open your profile in the game, use a Rename Card, and paste into the new-name field. The steps are the same whether the name came from the generator or the library.

1. Tap Copy on a result. A short “Copied” message confirms it is on your clipboard.
2. In PUBG Mobile or BGMI, open your profile and choose to change your name. Renaming uses a Rename Card; BGMI hands out free cards through its Level 3 and Level 10 missions and allows one rename per day.
3. Long-press the name field, paste, and confirm. If the game refuses the name, the reason is almost always one character — see the next section.

Keep the copied text exactly as it is. Retyping a decorated name, or letting a keyboard “fix” it, replaces the special characters with ordinary ones and the style disappears.

Which characters does the PUBG Mobile name box accept?

No official list exists: neither KRAFTON (BGMI) nor Proxima Beta (PUBG Mobile) publishes which Unicode characters a nickname may contain or how long it may be. What can be stated is how those characters are stored, and that explains most refusals. A name field typically counts text in UTF-16 units. A decorative symbol from the Basic Multilingual Plane (BMP) takes one unit; an emoji takes two, so it uses up space twice as fast and is the first thing some fields reject.

The surprise is that not every decoration is in the BMP. The popular bracket pair 𓆩 𓆪 comes from the Egyptian Hieroglyphs block, above U+FFFF, and counts exactly like an emoji.

Two practical consequences follow. First, a name that looks short can still be too long if it is built from emoji or hieroglyph brackets. Second, the two “invisible” characters people use for blank or spaced names behave differently: U+2800 BRAILLE PATTERN BLANK is an ordinary symbol with no decomposition, while U+3164 HANGUL FILLER has a compatibility decomposition, so any system that applies NFKC normalisation can change it. Neither is confirmed or banned in any document from the publisher, so treat both as something to try, not a guarantee.

Both games also judge what a name says, not only which characters it uses. BGMI’s rules allow a ban of up to 90 days for an inappropriate nickname and let the publisher change the name without asking, so a decorated insult is still an insult.

Where do the decorative symbols in these nicknames come from?

Every decoration on this page is a standard Unicode character borrowed from a writing system or symbol set, not a picture or a special font. That is why it survives copy and paste: the receiving app only needs a font that can draw it.

• Frames such as ꧁ ꧂ are Javanese punctuation marks; ༺ ༻ and ࿐ come from Tibetan.
• Styled letters such as 𝓛𝓮𝓰𝓮𝓷𝓭 are from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, created for formulas and reused for decoration.
• Tags such as ♛ ☬ ⚡ are from Miscellaneous Symbols; 亗 and 彡 are CJK ideographs chosen for their shape.

When a character shows up as an empty box, the device is missing a font for that block. The character itself is fine; open the same name on another phone, or paste it into a chat app, and it usually appears.

Where does the nickname library on this page come from?

The grouped nicknames above were shared by visitors through the “Share your version” box and are shown exactly as they were submitted. The PUBGNickname editorial team sorts them into themes and removes names that contain slurs, sexual references, gambling terms or tags from other games before they are listed. The kaomoji and emoji groups are curated the same way.

So you know what happens to your text: a name typed into the generator is sent to our server to build the styles and is counted, anonymously, so we can see which names are popular. Are the nicknames on this site unique?

No. Anything on this page can be copied by anyone, so another player may already use the exact same string. Adding one of your own symbols or changing the frame is the quickest way to make a copied name yours.

How often is the nickname library updated?

New submissions appear in the “Names players made” list under the generator as soon as they pass the filter. The themed groups on this page were last refreshed on 14 September 2026.

Can I submit my own nickname?

Yes. Build or paste your name, use the “Share your version” box under the generator, and it is added for the name you typed. Please do not submit someone else’s real name or anything offensive; it will be removed.

Why does my styled name look different on my friend’s phone?

Each phone draws Unicode characters with its own fonts. A decorative alphabet or a rare symbol can look thinner, bolder or like an empty box depending on the device, even though the text is identical.

Does a stylish nickname affect matchmaking or rank?

A nickname is the text other players see. Neither publisher documents any link between a name’s letter style and matchmaking or ranking, and the style changes only which characters the name is made of.

Can I mix two styles in one nickname?

Yes. A name is just a sequence of characters, so you can join two results, for example 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰 Kɪɴɢ. Mixing changes the cost: that example is 17 UTF-16 units, and after NFKC only the first word turns plain (“Shadow Kɪɴɢ”).
