PUBGNickname DMCA policy for removing infringing content

If something on pubgnickname.com infringes your copyright, tell us and we will remove it. This page explains what a valid notice has to contain, where to send it, and what happens next — including how to object if your content was taken down and you believe that was wrong.

What this page covers

Almost everything a visitor sees in our community library of PUBG Mobile and Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) nicknames was submitted by other visitors. We do not review submissions for copyright before they appear, so this page is the route for getting infringing material taken down after the fact.

It applies to nicknames in the library, to text on our pages, and to images we publish. What we handle and how the library works is set out in our terms of service.

Read this first: most nickname complaints are not copyright

A short decorative nickname is very unlikely to be protected by copyright, so a copyright notice is usually the wrong tool for it. Copyright protects creative expression of some substance; a handful of characters wrapped in ornamental glyphs generally does not reach that bar in any jurisdiction we are aware of.

That does not mean you have no remedy. It means the right remedy is probably a different one, and naming it correctly gets your problem solved faster:

  • Someone is using your name or brand — that is a trademark or passing-off question, not copyright. See the trademark section below.
  • Someone is impersonating you or a real person — report it as impersonation. We treat that as a priority and we do not need a copyright claim to act.
  • A nickname contains your personal information — report it as a privacy matter under our privacy policy. We remove those.
  • Someone copied your artwork, logo, article or photograph — that is copyright, and this page is the right route.

You do not need to pick the perfect label. Describe the problem plainly and we will route it. We would rather act on a clearly described complaint than reject a mislabelled one.

What a copyright notice must contain

To act on a copyright complaint we need enough information to find the material and to know you are entitled to complain. Include all six of the following — a notice missing the identification or the contact details cannot be acted on at all.

  1. The work. Identify the copyrighted work you say has been infringed. If several works are covered by one notice, list them.
  2. The material. Identify what on our site infringes it, precisely enough for us to locate it — the page URL, and the exact nickname text or the image filename. “Somewhere in your library” is not enough.
  3. Your contact details. A name, an email address we can reply to, and a postal address or telephone number.
  4. A good-faith statement that the use complained of is not authorised by you, your agent, or the law.
  5. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that — under penalty of perjury — you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.
  6. Your signature, physical or electronic. Typing your full name at the end of the message is sufficient.

Where to send it

Send your notice by email to [email protected], with “DMCA” or “Copyright” in the subject line. The same address is listed on our contact page.

Please send the notice as text in the body of the message. Attachments and links to external documents slow things down, and some are blocked before they reach us.

What happens after you send it

We aim to look at every complete notice within a few business days and to remove clearly infringing material as soon as we have found it. We are a small editorial team, not a ticketing department, so we will tell you what we did rather than send you a case number.

If we take material down we keep a record of the notice and of what was removed. Because the library has no user accounts, we often have no way to contact the person who submitted the material — there is no identity attached to a submission. Where we cannot notify them, we simply remove the content.

If your material was removed and you disagree

You can object, and we will look again. Send a counter-notice to the same address containing:

  1. Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
  2. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief it was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  3. Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
  4. Your consent to the jurisdiction of a court where you are located or where we may be found, and your agreement to accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.
  5. Your signature, physical or electronic.

If we receive a valid counter-notice we may restore the material, and we may forward your counter-notice — including the contact details in it — to the person who complained. Bear that in mind before you write it.

Repeat infringers

We remove submissions from anyone who repeatedly posts infringing material, and where we can identify a source of repeated abuse we block it. Since submissions carry no account, this is enforced at the level of content and network address rather than by suspending a profile.

Trademark, brand and impersonation complaints

Send these to the same address, and say plainly that it is a trademark or impersonation complaint rather than a copyright one. Tell us the mark, where it is registered if it is registered, and exactly which nickname or page you are complaining about.

Note that we already disclaim any connection to the games this site is about: pubgnickname.com is an independent, fan-made tool. PUBG, PUBG MOBILE and BGMI are trademarks of their respective owners. We do not use official game logos or artwork as our own branding.

Notices sent in bad faith

A takedown notice is a legal statement, not a complaint form. Under United States law, a person who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation that material is infringing can be liable for the resulting damages and costs, including the other side’s legal fees.

We do act on valid notices. We also read them. Do not use this route to remove a nickname you simply dislike, to win an argument with another player, or to take down a competitor.
